Towns County Middle School
Libby Hall
8th Grade Physical Science
Mission for the Class The mission for this class is for each student to have a positive experience with Science. Students will participate in a variety of standards based and hands on activities in order to develop this positive experience.
Curriculum Students will cover the following topics throughout this year in Physical Science:
> Structure of Matter (30% of CRCT)
> Force and Motion (30% of CRCT)
> Energy and Its Transformations, including Waves (40% of CRCT)
Class Rules The class rules are as easy as A-B-C-D.
Always show respect
Be prepared and positive
Cooperate
Do your best
Each of these rules has many elements. For example, "Always show respect" could include any of the following examples of disrespect: foul or disrespectful language, talking back, defiance, or dishonesty. Respect should be shown to self, other students, adults, and property.
Grading Policy Each grade will be recorded once unless otherwise specified. Students will be informed if a grade is recorded more than once. Parents or students can check grades online. This is the best way to stay informed of missing assignments and class averages. Students will also keep track of their current average on their grading sheet which should be found in the front of their notebooks.
Communication I strongly believe that communication is the key to success in most things in life. This is especially true in the classroom. If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions please feel free to contact me in whatever method is most convenient for you. Please keep in mind, it may be the end of the day before I can return voicemails or emails. Phones in the classrooms will not ring during the day, but I will return voicemails as soon as possible.
